PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitor with a high capacitor and moreover superior long-term reliability. SOLUTION: This electric double layer capacitor is provided with a pair of polarized electrode bodies, separator, and electrolytic solution, and activated carbon is used as the constituting elements of each polarized electrode body. Then, the activated charcoal whose acid functional group quantity is small is used for a positive electrode, and the activated carbon whose acid functional group quantity is large is used for a negative electrode. More specifically, the quantity of the acid functional group per the unit weight of the activated charcoal to be used for the negative electrode is set in the range of 0.2-0.6 mm per the activated carbon of 1 g, and also the two times to ten times the quantity of the acid functional group per the unit weight of the activated carbon used for the positive electrode. |
