PURPOSE: An upshift control method/system for an automatic transmission is provided to automatically review an upshift of a desirable pattern and to give the command corresponding to the upshift. CONSTITUTION: A upshift control method/system for an automatic transmission contains the following processes: a process to sense a condition of a upshift from a current gear ratio; a process to review a necessity and a possibility of in order a skip upshift and a single upshift; a process to give a command of a upshift suitable under a current driving condition; where if the upshift is necessary ( ES > ESU/S ), the skip upshift (GRTARGET = GR + N, N>1) and the single upshift (GRTARGET = GR + 1) are in order reviewed.
