A key for a lock cylinder with a shaft, has a fixture provided for the rotation of a core into an open position of the lock cylinder upon the application of a torque plus a code transmitter held by the shaft for transmitting a code to a code receiver of the lock cylinder. The shaft is made from a material permeable for the signals of the code transmitter and surrounds the code transmitter completely on the sides. The shaft has a sleeve (24) extending along its longitudinal direction for accommodating the code transmitter.
