PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an electric charge generating element containing a silsesquioxane salt complex against corona charge and to improve the resistance to the enlargement of a latent image by using a specified tertiary arylamine as an acid scavenger in a silsesquioxane salt overcoat or a solid electrolyte layer. SOLUTION: An electrically conductive layer, an electric charge generating photoconductor layer and a solid electrolyte layer containing a silsesquioxane salt complex and >=0.2 mass % non-diffusible acid scavenger which is a tertiary arylamine having a pKa of >=4 in water are successively formed. The silsesquioxane can be used in various hardened states. A hardened state generally means the number of hydrolyzable groups that reacted in the polymer matrix. A polymer partially hardened owing to the heat sensitivity of the layer situated below is appropriately used.
