PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for protecting mycelia from a feeding damage by insects, when a Shiitake mushroom (Lentinus edodes) is cultured. SOLUTION: This method for protecting mycelia comprises inserting a mycelium material 3 into an inoculation hole 2 bored at a log bed 1 to inoculate mycelia, wherein the mycelium material 3 is prepared by filling bullet-shaped concavities mounted on a framework made of a synthetic resin sheet with mycelia which are bred from hyphae in sawdust, closing each of the concavities with a plate-like shielding material 4, then culturing the mycelia to obtain the mycelium material 3 which is formed by tightly binding the shielding material 4 to the cultured mycelia with the hyphae, and further coating the outside surface of the shielding material 4 with an insect-controlling agent prepared from BT(Bacillus thuringiensis).
