PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability in arranging a thermostat as well as to relax restriction to be imposed in a case where the thermostat is arranged. SOLUTION: This thermostat attaching structure is provided with a valve element 12 to be reciprocated by the action of piston parts 11, 15 and 16 and an energizing part 6 so as to traverse the passage range FA according to a change of the temperature of coolant and for performing shutting-off and communication of the passage range FA by the reciprocating motion. The thermostat attaching structure is provided with a fitting hole 5a to which the valve body 17 is to be fitted; positioning grooves 2b formed from the opening part 2a side of the fitting hole 5a along a fitting direction of the valve body 17; and the valve body 17 having projecting parts 17g provided on the peripheral surface 17e of the valve body 17, to be engaged with the positioning grooves 2b, and slidable along the positioning grooves 2b; and a cover body 19 to be screwed to the fitting hole 5a from the opening part 2a and for pressing and supporting the valve body 17 by its tip.
