PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To infallibly detect and notify various kinds of failures which possibly occur in a drain mode of an auger type ice making machine. SOLUTION: An ice making machine has such an arrangement that ice making water in an ice making water tank and an ice making cylinder is drained in a drain mode after water is supplied so sufficiently that a water level in the ice making tank reaches the upper limit water level. Specifically, there are provided a delay means (step 305) for putting back a valve opening operation (step 308) of a drain valve behind a valve closing operation (step 304) of a feed water valve by a given period of time, a first judging means (step 306) for judging whether or not a water level detecting means has detected the upper limit water level in a condition where the opening operation of the drain valve has been delayed by the delay means, and a first warning means (step 307) for giving warning in the case where the first judging means judges that the upper limit water level has not yet been detected.
