PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice washing method by which rice bran smell is prevented from remaining in rice at the time of washing rice and taste deterioration is suppressed. SOLUTION: This rice washing method is carried out using a rice washing machine A which comprises a rice washing machine main body 1 containing an electric motor 50, a rice washing basket 30 having a large number of small holes 32a, 35a and disposed in a container 14 installed in the main body, and rotary blades 40 installed in the rice washing basket 30 to be rotated by rotating force of the electric motor 50 and which washes rice put in the rice washing basket 30 by rotating the rice by the rotary blades 40. Rice is washed by a first process of wetting the rice, a second process of separating rice bran, which adheres to the rice surface, or making rice bran easy to be separated from rice by stirring rice wetted in the first process by intermittently repeating short time rotation and pause of rotation of the rotary blades, and a third process of rinsing the rice from which rice bran is separated or made easy to be separated by the second process with water and washing out rice bran, so that rice bran smell is prevented from remaining in rice and taste deterioration can be suppressed.
