PURPOSE: A position determination using one low earth orbit satellite is provided to determine position of user terminal using a specificity of communication signal in low earth orbit satellite. CONSTITUTION: A system comprises a user terminal(106), one and more satellites(104) having known position and speed, and a gateway(102) communicating with the user terminal(106) via the satellite(104). The user terminal position on earth surface is determined basically by a range parameter indicating a distance(R) between the satellite(104) and user terminal(106), a range-rate parameter indicating a relative radial velocity between the satellite(104) and the user terminal(106), and known position and speed of the satellite(104). A ISO-R contour is formed into a cycle indicating 2000Km range between the user terminal(106) and the satellite(104).
