PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boring apparatus, capable of both hand-feed and automatic-feed operations, in compact in size, to prevent a bore hole from being decentered by eliminating external force not to be imposed on it even in time of cutting feed rate, and, to changeover these hand and automatic feed operations so as to be quickly and surely performable, and at the same time, to let this automatic feed releasable at the specified position. SOLUTION: In this boring apparatus, being equipped with a drill in the tip of a spindle 8 to be rotated by a motor, guiding the spindle 8 as being free of movements, and making it retractable by means of a feeding means, it is provided with a clutch 15 selecting the feeding means to both manual and automatic operations, a manual shift means of the clutch 15, and an automatic shift means 16 for selecting the clutch 15 to the manual operation when the spindle 8 is fed as far as the specified rate by the automatic feed operation, respectively.
