PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the overall size of image forming devices by elevating the degree of freedom in arrangement of various mechanisms and parts in their housing. SOLUTION: A housing body 43 has on its top a cover body 33 pivotable between its opening and closing positions about pins 45a. In the housing body 43, a plurality of guide grooves 49a to 49c for transferring sheets 37 are defined so as to pass under the closed cover body 33. Part of the guide groove 49b is integrally formed on the underside of the cover body 33. The opened cover body 33 thus ensures a working space for replacement of such consumable parts as a toner cartridge 69 and a drum cartridge 71 and for jamming sheet removal.
