PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely and efficiently set a line type by displaying and notifying the guidance of effect that automatic judgment of the line type is impossible when dial tone is continuously detected against the selection signal of any signal system. SOLUTION: A CPU 34 controls a hook switch circuit 14, acquires a line, controls a DTMF generation part 20 and the circuit 14 when a dial tone detection part 18 detects a dial tone and transmits a PB signal and a dial pulse to the line. The detection part 18 detects the presence or absence of the dial tone whenever the signals are transmitted. When it is absent, the signal transmitted at that time is registered in a RAM 36 as a selection signal transmitted to the line. When the detection of absence is impossible, the automatic judgement of a selection signal type is disabled. It is visually displayed on an LCD display part or is outputted from a speaker 44 through a speech network 16 and an AF part 42. The CPU 34 terminates the automatic judgement mode of the selection signal type and switches it to the line type setting mode of a user.
