PURPOSE: An apparatus of preventing an overheat of a car audio system is provided to detect a heat generated from a power amplifier of the car audio system and regulate an operating of the power amplifier according to the detected heat, thereby preventing the overheat of the car audio. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus of preventing an overheat of a car audio system comprised of an FM/AM tuner(10), a cassette tape player(20) or a compact disk player(30) comprises a radiant plate for radiating a heat generated from a power amplifier(70), a temperature detecting portion(100) which is mounted at one side of the radiant plate and detects a change of heat in the radiant plate and an overheat preventing circuit portion(90) in which the detected heat is compared with a predetermined standard temperature to determine whether the power amplifier is overheated. In the apparatus, when the power amplifier is overheated, the overheat preventing circuit controls an audio signal level applied from a volume control portion(60) to the power amplifier. The over heat preventing circuit portion comprises a comparator for comparing a voltage detected by the detecting portion with a predetermined standard voltage, a displaying lamp for displaying an overheat preventing operation.
