Provided are processes of producing cyclopropanecarboxylate compounds of formula (I) which comprise reacting a cyclopropanecarbaldehyde compound of formula (II) with a dicarbonate compound of formula (III) in the presence of at least one secondary amine chosen from piperidine, morpholine, pyrrolidine, diethylamine and N-methylethanolamine, <CHEM> <CHEM> <CHEM> where R<1> and R<2> are as defined herein.o
