PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove endocrine disrupting chemicals to a low concn. in a short time by pyrolyzing water containing endocrine disrupting chemicals in the presence of an oxidizing agent. SOLUTION: When the water to be treated containing endocrine disrupting chemicals is introduced from a water supply passage 4 into a reactor 1, an oxidizing agent is supplied from an oxidizing agent supply passage 5 and mixed with water, and the mixture is introduced into the reactor 1. The water is heated by a heater 2 and stirred by a stirrer 3 in the reactor to oxidize and decompose the endocrine disrupting chemicals. Then the treated water is discharged through a treated water discharge passage 6. The pyrolysis by the heater 2 is preferably carried out in the presence of an oxidizing catalyst such as platinum. The oxidation decomposition efficiency is increased by separating and concentrating the water to be treated, and pyrolyzing the concentrated water. As for the oxidizing agent, peroxides such as persulfates and hydrogen peroxide are preferably used. By combining heating and oxidation by the oxidizing agent, the endocrine disrupting chemicals which are hardly decomposed can be efficiently oxidized and decomposed.
