A sealed chamber (24) is formed between arch and pane or panel frame (1,2) of a window or door and is sealed by at least one seal (21). The frames can be locked or unlocked by a drive bar fitting (3) incorporating a movable beam (5) and a static beam engagement. The drive bar fitting works in conjunction with a device for movement of the seal out of a first position, in which it locates on the arch and pane or panel frames, into a second position, in which it is raised away from the frames. The beam in the second position remains engaged with the beam engagement. The drive bar fitting has at least three engagement positions, in the first of which the beam fits into the beam engagement. In the second position a device (29) raises the seal from the arch or pane or panel frame. In the third position the beam is disengaged from the engagement.
