APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING SLAB WIDTH BY USING MAPPING ALGORITHM OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL COORDINATES

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring a slab width by using mapping algorithm of two-dimensional coordinates are provided to reduce measuring errors of slab width by performing precise measurement even for a slab of which upper or lower part is twisted due to inclination in the lengthwise or widthwise direction. CONSTITUTION: A method for measuring a slab width by using mapping algorithm of two-dimensional coordinates by using CCC camera includes the steps of discriminating whether a slab is introducing or not(400), measuring both edge parts of the slab by using a plurality of CCC cameras(420), operating coordinates of the right and left edges by using the measuring values of the width of the slab(440), computing the slab width by using a trigonometrical function via the right and left edges(460), storing the computed slab width in a memory(480), and discriminating whether the slab escaped the CCC cameras or not.
