PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable type reaper improved in safety. SOLUTION: This portable type reaper comprises a friction member arranged oppositely to a clutch drum, a moving member connected to the friction member and moving between a braking position for pressing the friction member to the clutch drum and a nonbraking position for separating the friction member from the clutch drum and releasing the braking and a manual type releasing means for moving the moving member from the braking position to the nonbraking position and a release regulating means for regulating the operation of the manual type releasing means in the portable type reaper capable of transmitting a power of an internal combustion engine through a centrifugal clutch to a movable blade and regulating an output of the internal combustion engine by operating a manually operated type throttle lever and regulating the opening degree of a throttle valve through a throttle wire. The release regulating means is provided with a finger member having a pawl part capable of performing shaking motion interlocking with the movement of the throttle wire by the operation of the throttle lever and approaching or keeping away from an engaging surface and a holding means for maintaining the engaging state of the pawl part with the engaging surface in a region of a prescribed value or above of the number of revolutions of the internal combustion engine.
