PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling game mode for TV is provided so that user's eye fatigue can be reduced in game mode operation in TV system by detecting the number of colors in the input video signals according to the game mode operation, comparing it with the predetermined number of colors, and converting user's control state automatically into the game if the compared result is different from each other. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and method for controlling game mode for TV includes a microcomputer(29) for controlling the whole TV system, storing the input signal as a frame unit, detecting the color of the frame, and thereafter if the number of color is under the predetermined level, discriminating automatically game mode and converting user's control state into the game mode. A control unit(30) controlled by the microcomputer(29) controls the display control state of TV system. A video storage unit(27) stores and outputs the input video signals as a frame unit. A color detecting unit(28) detects the number of color in the video signals of the video storage unit(27). |
