PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a failure as quickly as possible and reduce danger that a machining electrode collides against a face of a workpiece during pullback movement at the same time. SOLUTION: This is a method and a device for controlling pullback movement of a machining electrode in an electrolytic corrosion device in which the machining electrode is moved reversely along a machining path B (first pullback path) in which it moves in advance and along a pullback path RV (second pullback path) defined concerning the machining path B when a failure occurs in a machining process. The electrode is moved reversely along two pullback paths simultaneously, and the direction of pullback vector at each point P is adapted to the machining path in which it moves in advance so as to eliminate the failure quickly and reduce danger that the machining electrode collides against a face of a workpiece during pullback movement.
