PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method and device for inspecting a magnetic head by which Barkhausen noise can quantatively be evaluated. SOLUTION: In this method for inspecting electromagnetic transducing characteristics of the magnetic head 14 using a magnetoresistive element whose resistivity is changed when the magnetic field is applied, the changeable magnetic field is applied to the magnetic head 14 from the outside and the voltage change of the magnetic head 14 to the change of the magnetic field is measured thereby generating a differential signal S6, then only high frequency components in the differential signal S6 are extracted thereby generating a filtering signal S7, and characteristics of the magnetic head 14 is inspected based on the filtering signal S7.
