PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a molding material having the high conductivity which can quickly cool poured molten metal, and good moldability, and easily permitting recycling, by mixing a specific quantity of binder into a metallic granular material having a specific grain diameter. SOLUTION: It is desirable to use a molding material by mixing a 1-20% binder into a metallic granular material having a 0.01-2 mm grain diameter. In the granular material of aluminum, copper or iron, or a mixed material thereof, or aluminum alloy, the mineral material is contained by upto 70 wt.%. The mold hardened with the binder containing water, is shaped and as the binder, mixed material having each 10 wt.% of clay and water, or starch fine powder, is used. The molding material is previously compressed in a molding flask with air pressure, and thereafter, mainly compressed with a mechanical means. In the molding material, carbon and/or iron oxide are added.
