PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply proper sharpness emphasizing processing to restored image data of a file form, which are obtained by compressing the original image data on a JPEG, etc. SOLUTION: A deciding means 3 decides the degree of compression for image data S0 which are read out of a recording medium 1, and an emphasis degree deciding means 5 decides the emphasis degree K, so as to lower the emphasis degree of the sharpness emphasis processing, as the degree of compression is increased. The data S0 is restored by a restoring means 4, and the restored image data S1 are obtained. A sharpness emphasis processing means 6 applies sharpness emphasis processing to the data S1, based on the emphasizing degree K that is decided by the means 5. Thus, the processed image data S2 are obtained, outputted via an output means 7 and then reproduced as a printed image. |
