PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively produce a sound plated iron wire by passing a soft steel wire contg. a specified amt. of Si through the inside of a hot dip zinc bath and executing squeezing by carbon particles or gas spraying to obtain specified Al concn. and coating weight while it is taken up and passing it through the inside of a hot dip zinc-Al bath. SOLUTION: A sot steel wire in which the content of Si is controlled to <=0.05% is used. Squeezing is executed by gas spraying, and it is passed through the inside of a hot dip zinc-Al bath to obtain 5 to 20% aluminum concn. and >=300 g/m2 coating weight. The reason of using a two bath single wire passing method is that it passes through the galvanizing bath at a high speed to shorten the dipping time, the iron-zinc compd. layer is not thickened, and also, compds. high in an iron content are not formed, by which the production cost is reduced. The squeezing by carbon particles is such that, in which, by passing it through the inside of a bed in which the carbon particles are floated on the taking it up, excessive zinc is squeezed, and the squeezing by gas spraying is the one in which the hot dip zinc is positively allowed to fall, and for preventing the oxidation of the zinc film, air, inert gas or reducin gas is used.
