PURPOSE: A method for locking channels for adults on television is provided to set up skip states of the channels for adults in channel information, tuned a function of automatically tuning channel, for prohibiting from watching a present channel, by utilizing adult channel code of VPS(Video Programming System)/PDC(Program Delivery Control) when the received channel is an adult program, and to automatically change the adult channel into the other channel, thereby preventing children or teenagers from arbitrarily watching adult programs. CONSTITUTION: A method locking an adult channel on television comprises steps of: reading VPS/PDC data inserted into the predetermined horizontal line interval within the VIB of the channel signals, received to a presented tuned channel, when television power is on, or channel are converted in an up/down direction; deciding whether a program code for adults of the read VPS/PDC data exists; automatically skipping the channel for adults of the program, when the channels are converted up/down, by skipping the present channel among automatically tuned channels, when the program code is detected, and tuning the present channel by converting into a next channel; and maintaining the present channel if the program code is not detected.
