PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a judgment without being influenced by various illumination circumstances when selecting an artificial tooth including a color tone by manufacturing a sample element with the same raw material and method as those of the artificial tooth, patterning and curving one surface like a natural tooth, and forming the other back face flat and smooth. SOLUTION: This color key 10 is provided with an insertion base member 12 for a color sample tooth 14 and an insertion base member 12 for a dentin sample 18, and faces 24, 26 are curved in a gradual spherical shape in the regions of insertion element bushes 28. The front face of the sample tooth 14 is patterned and contoured in particular like a natural tooth, and the back face is made a flat and smooth surface. An insertion element 32 is provided with the enamel sample 18 in place of the sample tooth 14, and the structure of a sample holding member corresponds to the structure of a sample tooth holding member. The enamel sample 18 practically has a rod shape and is tapered.
