PURPOSE: A method for recognizing characters of inputted characters is provided to conveniently input, modify, convert characters, so that a user can easily input the characters, correct the characters, and exactly input necessary characters. CONSTITUTION: A method for recognizing inputted characters of an interface unit recognizing characters through data of a touch panel comprises the steps of: sensing the data of the touch panel; deciding whether the data of the touch panel is outputted according to an absolute coordinate value in a region where the sensed data is preappointed, when the data is sensed; calling a predetermined process function of the inputted characters by corresponding to the region, when the data is according to the absolute coordinate value; and performing a character recognizing process corresponding to the ouputted data of the touch panel, when the data is not according to the absolute coordinate value.
