PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical receiver reduced in the long tail of a bit error characteristic and improved in reception characteristics and to provide an optical signal reception method capable of realizing the improved reception characteristics. SOLUTION: This optical receiver 10 has a conversion circuit 12, having a photoelectric conversion section 24 that converts a received optical signal 1 into an electric data signal 30 and has a data identification circuit 18 that compares a data identification level 58, revised in relation to the intensity of the optical signal 21 with the electric data signal 30 to identify a data value denoted by the data signal. The conversion circuit 12 has an intensity detection section 34, that generates an electric intensity signal 32 in relation to the intensity of the optical signal an also has a level adjustment circuit that generates a 1st data identification level signal, that is revised in relation to the electric intensity signal 32 and to revise the data identification level of the data identification circuit. The data identification level from the data identification circuit 18 is revised in relation to the intensity signal 32 from the intensity detection section 34. |
