PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a loss due to diffusion of high pressure gas at the time of high-low pressure switchover, while ensuring a pressure difference to some extent, and thereby to improve refrigerating efficiency. SOLUTION: In this refrigerating machine, a first connecting passage 6 connecting a high pressure opening-closing valve 4 with a first refrigerating part 10 is connected with a second connecting passage 7 connecting a low pressure opening-closing valve 5 with a second refrigerating part 20, by a third connecting passage 8. A medium pressure opening-closing valve 41 is interposed in the middle of the third connecting passage 8. By operating the medium pressure opening-closing valve 41 to open, the refrigerating parts 10 and 20 are put in a state of medium pressure respectively and it is made possible to reduce a pressure difference at the time of opening-closing operations of the high pressure opening-closing valve 4 and the low pressure opening-closing valve 5 and thereby to reduce a loss due to diffusion of high pressure gas.
