<p>A polyester resin composition which contains as a resin ingredient a polyester consisting mainly of polytrimethylene terephthalate, satisfies the following requirements (1) to (3), and has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.4 to 2: (1) 90 wt.% or more of the polyester resin ingredient is accounted for by polytrimethylene terephthalate; (2) the composition contains titanium oxide having an average particle diameter of 0.01 to 2 νm in an amount of 0.01 to 3 wt.%, and (3) the number of titanium oxide particle agglomerates each having a major axis length exceeding 5 νm is 25 or smaller per mg of the resin. When this composition is spun by the melt spinning method, polyester fibers of the polytrimethylene terephthalate type can be produced through stable spinning/drawing which are reduced in coefficient of friction and have resistance to abrasion, moderate gloss, and a matte effect. The composition is prepared by yielding an ester of terephthalic acid with 1,3-propanediol and/or an oligomer of the ester in the presence of a fine titanium oxide dispersion in which agglomerates are diminished, and condensation-polymerizing the same.</p> |
