PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently dehydrate garbage to reduce its volume and to reuse it as fertilizer or the like. SOLUTION: This volume reduction machine comprises a crushing mechanism 2 to crush garbage fed to a charging hopper 1, and a wringing mechanism 5 to wring water out of the crushed garbage to reduce its volume. The crushing mechanism 2 consists of a ring-shaped fixed blade and free hammers installed on the plurality of positions of a horizontal disk which rotates inside the fixed blade at a high speed. The wringing mechanism 5 is formed by inserting a rotary shaft 51, on which a spiral blade 52 is installed so that its pitches gradually become smaller from the lower part to the upper part thereof, into an almost cylindrical casing 56. |
