The invention relates to a device (10) and a method for producing shell-shaped metal parts, especially for fuel tanks for motorcycles or the like, wherein said parts are produced from flat or preshaped sheet metal elements (40) by means of hydrostatic forming. In order to easily and economically produce particularly complex and generally undercut geometric shapes of parts for outer and/or inner shells of motorcycle tanks without the central welding seams required until now, the device (10) includes a first die part embodied as a core element (11) and a second die part (20). The die parts (11, 20) can be positioned in relation to each other using positioning means in such a way that they limit a forming cavity (30) and wherein at least one metal sheet element (40) is clamped between the die parts (11, 20) by means of sealing surfaces (17, 26, 27) and is formed hydrostatically in the forming cavity (30). The second die part (20) is disposed around the core element (11) in such a way that the positioned core element (11) is surrounded in certain areas by the second die part (20). When the formed sheet metal element (40) has undercuts, the second die part (20) consists of two (21, 22) or more parts for easy removal of the sheet metal element (40). |
