PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move the lens position to an appropriate position with a simple structure without touching a lens and a focus ring even when a selected sample stage arrangement part among many sample stage arrangement parts is changed, in an image information-reading apparatus having the sample stage arrangement parts. SOLUTION: The apparatus has tray rails 21a-21g of seven stages arranged beforehand. The positions 41a-41g of a lens 40 are set correspondingly to the rails 21a-21g. The rails 21a-21g where a tray 10 is arranged are detected by sensors 22a-22g. The lens 40 is moved by a focus control means 31 and a motor 32 to the lens position 41d corresponding to the detected rail 21d.
