A mixer assembly for aggregate materials consists of a container with a star-shaped rotor (1). The rotor core material is fitted with metal boots (2) the leading edge (9) of which is coated with a suitable metal alloy. The leading edge (9) describes an angle of less than 10 degrees from the vertical. The boot is bolted to the rotor core (1) hub zone (10) by counter-sunk bolts (4).
