PURPOSE: A method for controlling a microwave oven adds and changes functions of the microwave oven quickly and conveniently for saving time and cost required for developing the microwave oven while coping with the desire of a user. CONSTITUTION: A fourth and a fifth functional keys(14,15) having new functions and a memory element(50) inputting and storing information about the functions corresponding to the functional keys are installed in a manipulating panel(10). Herein, the memory element is an EEPROM(Electrically Erasable Read Only Memory) for recording and replaying the information. Therefore, if the fourth or the fifth functional keys are selected, the microwave oven is driven according to the information programmed in the memory element corresponding to the fourth or the fifth functional keys. Therefore, a new memory element is replaced for the memory element or a new function is inputted to the memory element for adding or changing new function to the microwave oven.
