PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the consumption of unnecessary power during the stand-by of a printer and also prevent the delay of the first printing time at the time of returning. SOLUTION: A printer is provided with an image reading section 2, a plate- making section 4, a plate-release section 7, a printing section 5, a paper feed section 3 and a paper delivery section 6. In that case, the printer is provided with a power-saving mode setting means for saving the power consumption at the time of not using the printer, a printer state storage means for storing at least one state out of respective sections at the time of entering the power- saving mode and a comparison means for comparing the state of respective sections stored in the printer state storage means at the time of releasing the power-saving mode and the actual state of respective sections at the time of releasing, and the printer is set in the stand-by state in the case the state of respective sections in the power-saving mode is same as the state of respective sections at the time of releasing.
