<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass-polishing abrasive which can give a clean ground surface with no deposits attached to the surface and with no defects such as pits and scratches and a polishing method using the same. SOLUTION: The glass-polishing abrasive is composed of at least one kind of particles selected from a metallic oxide comprising at least one of aluminum and silicon and magnesium, such as magnesium silicate and magnesium aluminosilicate, a basic compound of calcium, such as calcium carbonate, and a basic compound of aluminum, such as aluminum hydroxide, in a slurry or the like. The polishing method comprises polishing a glass with an ordinary abrasive, such as cerium oxide, and then with this abrasive.</p> |
