A taking lens consisting of a positive power single lens element positioned behind an aperture stop of a photographic camera having an image format of 16.7x30.2 mm, and having an object side surface which includes an annular marginal section surrounding a core section defined by an effective aperture thereof. The taking lens satisfies the following conditions:Dr<1.0Dc<0.75Ds<3.0where Dr is the radial width of the annular margin; Dc is the thickness of the core section in an extension of a straight line connecting the outer periphery of the core section and the center of curvature of an image side surface of the single lens element; and Ds is the air space between the image side surface and the aperture stop.
