Novel compounds of the formula <FORM:1110056/C2/1> where R is H or CH3 and n is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, are made by condensing 1,4-dicyano-butene-2 with twice the molar quantity of a compound of formula <FORM:1110056/C2/2> in which X represents an oxygen atom or an imine group, preferably in a solvent, and, when X is = 0, in the presence of a catalyst, such as an alkoxide, an alkali metal amide or an alkali metal hydride. |
