1,114,766. Valves. LINCOLN VALVES Ltd. 4 Oct., 1965 [5 Oct., 1964], No. 40488/64. Heading F2V. A butterfly valve comprises two coaxial plates 30, 32 connected together at their spherical peripheries 26, 28 by two spherical bridge-pieces 34, 36, the plates and bridgepieces co-operating with two threaded annular seats 17, 19 and the bridge-piece 30 receiving an actuating shaft 24. The bridge-pieces may be connected together by circular webs (56, 58, Figs. 10, 11, not shown) disposed in the plane of Fig. 2. One of the seats may be integral with the valve housing 10 (Fig. 4, not shown) or both seats may be arranged to float (Fig. 3, not shown), in which latter case a hardenable plastics sealant may be introduced through means 54 (Fig. 10, not shown) to prevent leakage around the seats. As a further alternative, Fig. 6 (not shown), one seat may be welded in place. In Fig. 5, not shown, one bridge-piece is split to enable the plates to be urged against the seats by a wedge member.
|
