PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the position of a sensor from being changed by repetition of opening/closing by turning a knob to rotate a crossed helical gear, and rotating a crossed helical gear and a shaft interlockingly with the rotation of the crossed helical gear to move a paper detecting sensor in the cross direction of paper. SOLUTION: A spur gear 35 is provided in an adjacent position to a crossed helical gear 21. The spur gear 35 is also fastened to a spiral shaft 22 by a spring pin 36. A leaf spring 40 is fitted to a sensor frame 20, and the leaf spring 40 functions as a ratchet pawl to the teeth of the spur gear 35 so as to apply rotational load. This is to prevent the crossed helical gear 21 from being rotated by opening/closing a sensor, and the crossed helical gear 21 is always kept in the set home position. When the sensor is opened/closed, a crossed helical gear 11 is rotated. The dislocation of the sensor in opening/closing is not therefore generated. As mechanism for applying rotational load to one of the crossed helical gear, there is another way of pressing the spiral shaft by a spring to apply rotational load.
