PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective shell for a cosmetic container which can keep the moisture level of a cosmetic, avoid an accidental fallout of a top shell and enables sure recognition of sealed combination between the top shell and the base shell. SOLUTION: A protective shell 10 for a cosmetic container includes a cylindrical top shell 12 and a cylindrical base shell 14. The cylindrical top shell 12 has an engagement part 30, and the cylindrical base shell 14 has an engagement part 32. The engagement part 30 of the top shell 12 is partitioned by an outward inclined side wall part 16, and the engagement part 32 of the base shell 14 is partitioned by an inward inclined side wall part 22. The top shell 12 is placed on the base shell 14 and a tightly closed part is formed between the engagement parts 30, 32. The top shell engagement part 30 is partitioned by a peripheral edge rib 40, and the base shell engagement part 32 has a peripheral edge groove 42 for receiving the peripheral edge rib 40 of the top shell 12.
