PRODUCTION OF SOLUBLE SOLID POLYTITANOXANE AND ITS DERIVATIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polytitanoxane and its derivative which each has high condensation stability and high solubility in organic solvents and has a high TiO2 content. SOLUTION: This method for producing a solid polytitanoxane or its derivative comprises hydrolyzing a titanium tetraalkoxide of the general formula: Ti(OR)4 (R is a monovalent 1-12C hydrocarbon group) with 1.0-1.75 fold moles of water in the presence or absence of an inorganic or organic acid as a catalyst in at least one solvent selected from etheric solvents, ketonic solvents and alcoholic solvents at a temperature of 0-30 deg.C, further aging the hydrolysis product at a temperature of 60-120 deg.C, or further reacting the product with a chelating agent or silylating agent.
