PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reproducing apparatus by which pieces of music can be relocated at random by the small number of memories by a method wherein numbers of the pieces of music are stored sequentially in a memory from a CD, the number of the pieces of music are relocated at random, the first number of a piece of music which cannot be stored in the memory is stored and the pieces of music which cannot be stored are played sequentially whenever the set number of the pieces of music which are relocated is played. SOLUTION: For example, the total number of pieces of music in a CD 1 is set at 99, and the capacity of a memory for storage RAM 8 in which numbers of pieces of music are located covers a portion of 60 pieces of music. When a random playing button 10 is pressed, a microcomputer 7 locates the numbers of 60 pieces of music in the order of the pieces of music in the CD 1. The address of the RAM 8 is located at random, it is replaced by a top address, and the numbers of 60 pieces of music are relocated at random. Then, on the basis of the ratio of the numbers of the pieces of music located in the RAM 8 to the numbers of the pieces of music overflowing from the numbers of the pieces of music, random pieces of music which is played according to the address of the RAM 8 are played one by one, the overflowing pieces of music which are located in the order to the pieces of music are inserted sequentially one by one from a 61st piece of music, and all the pieces of music are played without being overlapped.
