Coating composition for textiles, polymers, and lignocellulose useful as fire protecting material for wood, straw, reeds, rushes, or paper and contains complex forming metal salt and phosphorus acid compound

A stable coating for textiles or polymers containing : (A) a layer forming organosol formed by cohydrolysis of tetraalkoxy-, trialkoxy-, and/or dialkoxysilanes in an organic solvent, (B) a complex forming metal salt in aqueous organic solvent, and (C) one or more compounds containing one or more phosphorus acid compounds is new. A stable coating composition for textiles or polymers contains: (A) a layer forming organosol formed by cohydrolysis of tetraalkoxysilanes of formula (I): Si(OR<1>)4, trialkoxysilanes of formula R<2>(Si(OR<1>)3, and/or dialkoxysilanes of formula R<3>2(OR<1>)2 in an organic solvent, (B) a complex forming metal salt in an aqueous organic solvent, and (C) one or more compounds containing one or more phosphorus acid compounds. R<1> and R<2> = 1-4C alkyl, R<3> = 1-18 alkyl, 1-18 fluoroalkyl, or epoxy-functional alkyl, or cycloalkyl. An Independent claim is included for a coating process involving the steps: (1) preparation of component A by cohydrolysis of Si(OR<1>)4, R<2>(Si(OR<1>)3, and/or R<3>2(OR<1>)2 in an organic solvent; (2) addition of dissolved components B and C; (3) coating of the substrate;and (4) drying and hardening of the coating.
