PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching method for a switching type filter for a polymer in which switching between plural filter vessels loading filter medium therein can be done efficiently and in a faultless state and irrespective of operators without depending on a technique of an operator. SOLUTION: In the switching type filter provided with plural filter vessels 1, 2 loading filter medium therein and switching valves 4, 5 for doing switching between the vessels to use them alternately, a vacuum suction means 10 is connected to the filter vessels 1, 2 through stop valves 9. By evacuating, prior the switching, the filter vessel 2 in which new filter medium is put, a polymer can be filled thereinto by suction force by this vacuum. In this way, the polymer can be quickly filled into the filter vessel 2, and also by the vacuum in the filter vessel 2, air is prevented from being incorporated into the polymer, and switching between the filter vessels 1, 2 can be effectively done.
