PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display element is provided to obtain a bright display without using a polarization plate. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display element comprises insulation substrates(1, 2) of a front side and a rear side, a liquid crystal layer(8), and color filter films(15, 16). Electrode patterns(3, 4) are formed on the front and rear side substrates(1, 2), respectively. The liquid crystal layer(8), which is adhered by a seal material(7), is installed to insert a two-color liquid crystal material between the substrates(1, 2). The color filter film(16) is installed at a part where the electrode pattern(4) of the front side substrate(2) is not installed, and the color filter film(15) is installed at a part where the electrode pattern(3) of the front side substrate(1) is installed.
