An operating device for sashes selectively pivotable about two axes disposed at right angles to one another (as shown, a window F, viewed from above, is selectively pivotable about a horizontal bottom axis and a vertical side axis (the right hand side)) comprises a lever 1 pivotally connected at one end to the sash frame R (in the vertical side axis) and so connected to the sash F at its other end that operation of actuating transmission carried on sash F causes pivotal movement of lever 1 to open the sash about its horizontal bottom axis, e.g. to the position shown. The actuating transmission consists of flexible drive rodding housed in guides at the comers 3, 7 of sash F. Lever 1 and a second lever 2 are attached to the drive rodding by pins 21, 25 passing through guiding slots 22, 26. Cam means, i.e. a fixed pin 20 co-operating with a slot 19 in lever 1 and a pin 24 on lever 2 co-operating with a slot 23, ensure that longitudinal movement of the drive rodding causes the levers to rotate and the sash to pivot about its bottom axis, lever 1 being of two parts 1a, 1b and extending and lever 2 having a pin 17 sliding along a guide 18 on frame R. Guide 18 is provided with a detent 27 to locate pin 17 and lock the sash in the open position. When the sash is closed about its horizontal axis, the cam, means are such as to lock the levers 1, 2 in the plane of the sash, lever 2 becomes freed at the open end of guide 18, and by disengaging the hinges at the bottom of the sash, the sash may he opened about its vertical side axis. |
