PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of communication in a controller for a vending machine(VM) and to increase the speed of a response. SOLUTION: The controller for a VM is constituted of terminal control parts such as an input control part 3 and an amount display control part 4 for controlling respective parts of the VM and a main control part 1 for integrally controlling respective terminal control parts while executing communication with the terminal control parts. Each group of respective button control parts 5-1 to 5-3, 6-1 to 6-3, 7-1 to 7-3 is constituted as one terminal control part by forming commodity selection switches, vendable lamps and sell-out lamps as a unit. Addresses are set up in respective terminal control parts by using a control line 11 and address setting resistors R2 to R9 having mutually different resistance values and after starting normal operation, respective control parts are controlled by a contention method while executing communication with them.
