The curved optical surface is divided into a network of areas with an origin and points of reference along a dorsal line. Values for curvature to the x axis are given to all the network points, curvature to the y axis and x axis slope to all the dorsal points and y axis slope to the origin. Stages of integration and differentiation produce a bicubic area representation which is tested optically and modified as necessary.
